Baked Maple Bacon Donuts

- 1 c flour
- ¼ c plus 2 T white sugar
- 1 t baking powder
- ¼ t ground nutmeg
- ¼ t ground cinnamon
- ½ t salt
- ¼ c plus 2 T buttermilk
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ t vanilla
- 1½ t butter, melted
- 4-5 strips of bacon, cooked
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
- Lightly grease donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a small bowl, stir together the buttermilk, egg, vanilla, and butter.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir with a wooden spoon until fully incorporated.
- Fill the donut pan and bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Glaze and top with crumbled or chopped bacon.
